Pan-Seared Sirloin Steak

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1–2 tbsp oil (canola, vegetable, or avocado)
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp butter, garlic cloves, fresh thyme or rosemary

Steps:

  1. Prep the Steak:
    • Let steaks sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes.
    • Pat dry and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Steak:
    • Heat a skillet (cast iron is best) over high heat.
    • Add oil, then the steak. Cook 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust time for thickness and preference).
  3. Optional Basting:
    • In the last 2 minutes, add butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet.
    • Spoon melted butter over the steak for extra flavor.
  4. Rest the Steak:
    • Remove from skillet and let rest 5–10 minutes to keep juices in.
  5. Serve:
    • Slice against the grain if desired.
    • Great with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or a salad.
