Basic Oven-Roasted Pork

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb (1.4–1.8 kg) pork roast (shoulder, loin, or butt)
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
  • 350°F (175°C).

  • Rub pork with olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  1. Prepare the Pan
  • Place roast in a roasting pan.
  • Arrange vegetables around the roast (optional).
  • Pour broth into the pan to keep meat moist.

  • Roast 1.5–2 hours (or until internal temp reaches 145°F / 63°C for medium).
  • Baste occasionally with pan juices for extra flavor.
  1. Rest and Serve
  • Let the roast rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with roasted vegetables and pan juices or gravy.

Optional Tips

  • For a sweet twist, add apples or a honey glaze to the pan.
  • Slow cooker option: Cook on low for 6–8 hours for fall-apart tender meat.
