🧾 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or beef/pork mix)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp dried herbs (optional: parsley, oregano, thyme)

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

1. Make the meatballs

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs
  • Form into 1–2 inch balls

2. Brown the meatballs

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil
  • Brown meatballs on all sides (they don’t need to be fully cooked)
  • Remove and set aside

3. Make the gravy

  • In the same skillet, melt butter
  • Stir in flour to make a roux, cooking 1–2 minutes
  • Slowly whisk in beef broth until smooth
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper
  • Simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened

4. Combine meatballs and gravy

  • Return meatballs to the skillet
  • Simmer 10–15 minutes until meatballs are fully cooked and flavors meld

5. Serve

  • Over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles
  • Optional: garnish with chopped parsley
