🟢 Crack Green Beans

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained (or 4 cups fresh/frozen)
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt (optional, depending on bacon)
  • 1 cup French fried onions (optional topping)

🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

2️⃣ Cook Bacon & Onion

  • In a skillet, cook chopped bacon until crispy.
  • Remove bacon and set aside, leaving about 1–2 tsp bacon grease.
  • Sauté onion and garlic in the bacon grease until softened.

3️⃣ Mix Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine green beans, cooked onion and garlic, cream of mushroom soup, milk, ½ cup shredded cheddar, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir in most of the crumbled bacon (reserve a little for topping).

4️⃣ Bake

  • Pour mixture into prepared baking dish.
  • Top with remaining bacon, cheese, and optional French fried onions.
  • Bake 25–30 minutes until bubbly and heated through.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot as a side dish with chicken, pork, or beef.

💡 Tips

  • Use fresh green beans for a brighter flavor; blanch them first.
  • Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce for extra kick.
  • This dish can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
