Cabbage and Beef (Skillet Version)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or stew meat

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika or smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Brown the beef until fully cooked, breaking up ground beef as it cooks.
  • Remove excess fat if needed.
  1. Sauté Vegetables
  • Add onions and garlic to the skillet; cook 2–3 minutes until soft.
  • Add carrots (if using) and cook 3–4 minutes.
  1. Add Cabbage
  • Stir in cabbage, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Pour in beef broth or water.
  • Cover and cook 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender.
  1. Finish & Serve
  • Adjust seasoning.
  • Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles.

Optional Variations

  • Add tomato paste or diced tomatoes for a tangy version
  • Use slow cooker for a melt-in-your-mouth version (cook LOW 6–7 hours)
  • Add soy sauce and ginger for an Asian-style twist
