Baked Macaroni and Cheese (or with Meat Option)

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (or any small pasta)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar is classic)

  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: cooked ground beef, sausage, or bacon bits
  • Optional topping: breadcrumbs or extra shredded cheese

Steps:

    • Boil pasta in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Cheese Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Stir in flour to make a roux, cook 1–2 minutes.
    • Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and slightly thickened.
    • Add cheese and stir until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Combine & Bake:
    • Mix pasta and cheese sauce together (add cooked beef if using).
    • Pour into a greased baking dish. Top with extra cheese or breadcrumbs.
    • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
