Here’s a classic Upside-Down Cake recipe—sweet, caramelized fruit baked on the bottom and flipped for a beautiful presentation. 🍍🍰


🍍 Upside-Down Cake

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

For the Topping:

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices (or fresh pineapple)
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)

For the Cake Batter:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Topping

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt ¼ cup butter in a 9-inch round or square cake pan.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the melted butter.
  • Arrange pineapple slices on top of the sugar; place cherries in the centers if desired.

2️⃣ Make the Cake Batter

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Beat in softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

3️⃣ Assemble & Bake

  • Pour batter gently over the pineapple slices.
  • Bake 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

4️⃣ Cool & Flip

  • Let the cake cool 5–10 minutes.
  • Run a knife around the edges, place a serving plate on top, and invert carefully.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

💡 Tips

  • Use fresh or canned pineapple—both work well.
  • Make sure the cake cools slightly before flipping to avoid sticking.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for extra flavor.
