Tater tot casserole

Here’s a classic Tater Tot Casserole 🥔🧀—comfort food at its finest, perfect for a cozy meal.


🥘 Tater Tot Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or turkey for a lighter version)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (about 32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or green beans/corn mixed in

Instructions:

1. Cook the Meat

  • Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F)
  • In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until meat is browned and onions are soft
  • Drain excess fat
  • Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices

2. Mix the Base

  • In a bowl, combine cooked meat, soup, milk, and 1 cup of shredded cheese
  • Stir until well blended
  • Pour into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish

3. Add Tater Tots

  • Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top of the meat mixture

4. Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes
  • Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of cheese on top
  • Bake an additional 5–10 minutes until cheese melts and tots are golden

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, drizzle a little BBQ sauce or ranch over the top before baking
  • You can add frozen veggies to the meat mixture for extra nutrition
  • Leftovers reheat well in the oven or air fryer to keep tots crispy
