Instructions

  1. Make the patties:
    • In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
    • Form into 3–4 oval patties.
  2. Cook the patties:
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the onion gravy:
    • In the same skillet, melt butter. Add sliced onions and cook until golden and soft (about 8 minutes).
    • Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1–2 minutes.
    • Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until gravy thickens (5–7 minutes).
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Combine and serve:
    • Return the patties to the gravy, simmer 2–3 minutes to soak up flavors.
    • Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttery noodles.
