Here’s a simple and flavorful way to make Smoked Turkey Legs—perfect for a backyard BBQ or game-day feast:


Smoked Turkey Legs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large turkey legs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 cup apple juice or apple cider (for smoking)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Turkey Legs:
    Rinse and pat dry the turkey legs. Rub them with olive oil.
  2. Season:
    Mix together salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne (if using). Rub this seasoning all over the turkey legs.
  3. Preheat Smoker:
    Preheat your smoker to 225–250°F (107–121°C). If using a grill, set it up for indirect heat and add wood chips (hickory or applewood works best).
  4. Smoke the Turkey Legs:
    Place the turkey legs in the smoker. Add apple juice or cider to a pan in the smoker to keep the meat moist. Smoke for 2.5–3 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Optional Glaze:
    During the last 30 minutes, brush with your favorite BBQ sauce for extra flavor.
  6. Rest and Serve:
    Let the turkey legs rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy smoky, juicy turkey with your favorite sides!
