Here’s a simple, hands-off way to make slow cooker chicken that’s tender, juicy, and full of flavor:


🍗 Slow Cooker Chicken

🛒 Ingredients

  • 4–6 chicken thighs or breasts (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 3–4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp lemon juice

  1. Prepare the slow cooker:
    • Place sliced onions and garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
    • Drizzle a little olive oil or butter.
  2. Season the chicken:
    • Rub chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, and herbs.
    • Place on top of the onions.
  3. Add liquid:
    • Pour chicken broth over the chicken.
    • Optional: squeeze lemon juice for freshness.
  4. Cook:
    • Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
    • Chicken should be fully cooked and tender.
  5. Finish & serve:
    • Optional: thicken juices into a gravy by stirring in 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water and cooking on high for 10–15 minutes.
    • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted veggies.

💡 Tips

  • Bone-in chicken stays juicier than boneless.
  • Add vegetables (carrots, potatoes, celery) 2–3 hours before cooking for a one-pot meal.
  • For extra flavor, sear chicken in a pan before adding to the slow cooker.
