Here’s a simple, delicious way to make Skillet Cornbread at home:


🥣 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (plus extra for the skillet)

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a cast-iron skillet in the oven to heat.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  4. Combine: Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until just combined.
  5. Bake in skillet: Carefully remove hot skillet, add a bit of butter to coat, pour batter in. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Serve: Slice and serve warm with butter, honey, or your favorite spread.
