Here’s a cozy, classic comfort dish that’s perfect for family dinners 🥔🥩

🥧 Shepherd’s Pie (Easy & Delicious)

🧾 Ingredients

🍖 Meat Filling

  • 500g ground lamb (traditional) or beef
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or oregano

🥔 Mashed Potato Topping

  • 3–4 large potatoes (peeled & chopped)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the mashed potatoes

  • Boil potatoes until soft
  • Mash with butter, milk, and salt until smooth

2. Cook the filling

  • In a pan, cook onion and garlic until soft
  • Add ground meat, cook until browned
  • Stir in tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, veggies, and seasoning
  • Simmer 8–10 minutes until thick

3. Assemble

  • Spread meat mixture in a baking dish
  • Top with mashed potatoes (spread evenly or use a fork for texture)

4. Bake

  • Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes
  • Optional: broil 2–3 minutes for a golden top

🔥 Tips for Best Flavor

  • Add a little cheese to the mashed potatoes for richness
  • Use lamb for authentic Shepherd’s Pie (beef version is technically Cottage Pie 😉)
  • Let it rest 5–10 minutes before serving

😋 What It Tastes Like

Savory, rich meat filling topped with creamy, buttery mashed potatoes—warm, hearty, and super satisfying.

If you want, I can give you a quick 30-minute version, a healthy version, or even a cheesy loaded Shepherd’s Pie 🧀
