Servings: 4

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (plus extra for gravy)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter

For the gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

🍽️ Instructions

1. Make the Patties

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Shape into 4 oval patties.

2. Cook the Patties

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Brown patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

3. Make the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, melt butter.
  • Add extra chopped onions and cook until soft.
  • Stir in flour and cook 1–2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Simmer until thickened, season with salt and pepper.

4. Combine & Simmer

  • Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them.
  • Simmer 10–15 minutes until patties are fully cooked.

5. Serve

  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

💡 Tips

  • Use half ground beef, half ground pork for juicier patties.
  • Add mushrooms to the gravy for extra flavor.
  • Don’t skip browning the patties—it adds depth to the gravy.
