Potato soup

Potato Soup 🥔🥣
A warm, creamy comfort soup made with simple ingredients.


🧾 Ingredients (4–6 servings)

  • 4–5 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook potatoes
    In a large pot add potatoes, onion, garlic, and chicken broth.
    Simmer 15–20 minutes until potatoes are soft.
  2. Make the creamy base
    In a small pan melt butter and stir in flour. Cook 1–2 minutes to make a roux.
  3. Add milk
    Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth and slightly thick.
  4. Combine
    Pour the creamy mixture into the pot with the potatoes.
  5. Mash slightly
    Mash some of the potatoes with a spoon or potato masher to thicken the soup.
  6. Add cheese
    Stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
  7. Season
    Add salt and pepper to taste.

  • Crumbled bacon
  • Green onions
  • Extra cheese
  • Sour cream

⭐ Tip:
For a thicker soup, mash more potatoes. For a thinner soup, add a little more broth or milk.
