Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

Here’s a tasty spin on Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf—all the flavors of a classic sandwich packed into a savory meatloaf.


Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped bell peppers (green, red, or a mix)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1–2 tsp Italian seasoning

Optional Topping:

  • 4–6 slices provolone cheese for melting on top
  • ½ cup ketchup, marinara, or cheese sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook Veggies:
    • In a skillet, sauté onions, bell peppers, and garlic until soft, about 5–6 minutes.
  3. Mix Meatloaf:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, sautéed veggies, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
    • Mix until evenly combined but don’t overwork.
  4. Shape Meatloaf:
    • Place mixture in a loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Add Cheese:
    • Fold some shredded cheese into the meat mixture.
    • Optional: Place provolone slices on top during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
    • If using a topping sauce or extra cheese, add during the last 10–15 minutes of baking.
  7. Rest & Serve:
    • Let meatloaf rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.
    • Serve with a side of roasted potatoes, fries, or a simple salad.

  • For an extra Philly touch, serve slices on toasted hoagie rolls with sautéed peppers and onions.
  • You can swap provolone for cheddar or American cheese depending on preference.
