🥧 Peach pie

Peach pie is a classic dessert featuring sweet, juicy peaches baked inside a buttery, flaky crust. Perfect for summer, family dinners, or holiday treats, it’s warm, comforting, and irresistible with a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients (8 servings)

Filling:

  • 5–6 cups peeled, sliced fresh peaches (or canned, drained)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or cornstarch (to thicken)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Crust:

  • 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)

Optional Topping:

  • 1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sugar for sprinkling

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 425°F (220°C)
  2. Prepare filling
    • In a bowl, combine peaches, sugars, flour/cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla. Mix gently.
  3. Assemble pie
    • Roll out one crust into a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Pour peach mixture into crust. Dot with butter if desired.
    • Cover with second crust (full or lattice). Seal edges.
    • Brush top with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar if desired.
  4. Bake
    • Bake 20 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) for 35–45 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
    • Let cool slightly before slicing.
  5. Serve
    • Best warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.

🍴 Tips & Variations

  • Juicier filling: Add 1–2 tsp cornstarch to prevent sogginess.
  • Extra flavor: Add a pinch of ginger or cardamom for a subtle spice.
  • Crust options: Use a buttery pie crust, shortcrust, or even a crumble topping.
  • Frozen peaches: Thaw and drain excess liquid before using.

If you want, I can make a “grandma’s old-fashioned peach pie” recipe that’s extra sweet, perfectly spiced, and has a golden, flaky crust—it’s the kind of pie everyone will fight over.

Do you want me to do that?
