My son Marco is the only thing I have in this world. I raised him selling tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, and whatever else I could get every morning at the market.

It wasn’t easy, but it was honest work. Some days the sun burned so hot I thought I might collapse before I even sold half my basket. Other days it rained so hard the vegetables went soggy before noon.

But I never complained.

Because every coin I earned had a purpose—Marco’s school, his shoes, his future.

He was a quiet boy, always helping me carry crates when he was small, always telling me one day he would make all my sacrifices worth it.

And he did study hard.

Too hard, sometimes, I would say, worried he was carrying more than a child should.

Then one afternoon, everything changed.

A letter arrived.

It wasn’t from his school.

And when I saw the return address, I realized that the life I thought I had been building quietly, row by row at the market… was about to open into something I never expected.

If you want, I can continue it with a success story twist, a mystery letter reveal, or an emotional reunion ending.
