🥩 Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Cheesy Smashed Potatoes

🥔 Ingredients

For the smashed potatoes:

  • 500g baby potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

For the steak bites:

  • 400–500g steak (sirloin or ribeye works great)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh thyme or parsley (optional)

🔪 Instructions

1. Boil & smash potatoes

  • Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15–20 min)
  • Drain and place on a baking tray
  • Gently smash each potato using a glass or fork

2. Season & bake

  • Drizzle with olive oil
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic powder
  • Bake at 220°C (425°F) for 20–25 minutes until crispy
  • Add cheese on top and bake another 5 minutes until melted

3. Cook the steak bites

  • Cut steak into bite-sized cubes
  • Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder

Cooking:

  • Heat oil in a pan over high heat
  • Sear steak pieces for 2–3 minutes (don’t overcrowd)
  • Remove and set aside

4. Make garlic butter sauce

  • In the same pan, melt butter
  • Add minced garlic and cook for ~30 seconds
  • Toss steak back in and coat well
  • Add herbs if using
