Frikadelle

Ah, Frikadelle! 😄 These are classic German-style pan-fried meat patties, similar to meatballs but flatter. They’re crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfect as a main dish or snack.


🥩 Frikadelle Recipe (German Meat Patties)

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or mix beef & pork)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 slice of bread, soaked in milk and squeezed dry
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp mustard (optional)
  • 1–2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Oil for frying

  1. Prepare the mixture
    • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, chopped onion, soaked bread, egg, salt, pepper, mustard, and parsley.
    • Mix thoroughly until uniform.
  2. Shape the patties
    • Take a handful of the mixture and form flat, round patties, about ½ inch thick
  3. Fry the Frikadelle
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat
    • Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through
    • Drain on paper towels
  4. Serve
    • Traditionally served with potatoes, mashed potatoes, or sauerkraut
    • Can also be eaten cold in sandwiches
