Fried rice is a quick and versatile dish made by stir-frying cooked rice with vegetables, proteins, and seasonings. It’s perfect for using leftover rice and is a staple in many Asian cuisines.


🧾 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 3 cups cooked rice (preferably cold or leftover)
  • 2–3 tbsp oil (vegetable, sesame, or canola)
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, bell peppers)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2–3 tbsp soy sauce
  • Optional: 1 tsp sesame oil, green onions, cooked chicken/shrimp/pork

1. Prep your ingredients

  • Make sure rice is cold and separated
  • Chop vegetables and proteins into small pieces

2. Cook eggs

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or large skillet
  • Add eggs and scramble lightly
  • Remove and set aside

3. Sauté aromatics

  • Heat remaining oil
  • Cook onion and garlic until fragrant, ~2 minutes

4. Add vegetables & proteins

  • Stir-fry until vegetables are slightly tender
  • Add cooked chicken, shrimp, or other protein if using

5. Add rice

  • Stir in rice, breaking up any clumps
  • Add soy sauce and sesame oil
  • Stir-fry 5–7 minutes until rice is heated through

6. Add eggs & finish

  • Return scrambled eggs to the pan
  • Mix well, season with salt/pepper to taste
  • Garnish with chopped green onions if desired

  • Cold rice works best—freshly cooked rice can be too soft and sticky
  • Customize with leftover meat, vegetables, or tofu
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of oyster sauce or fish sauce
