Yesss 😄 Chicken Fried Chicken is pure comfort food—crispy, golden fried chicken topped with rich, creamy gravy. It’s like the chicken version of country-fried steak!


🍗 Chicken Fried Chicken (with Creamy Gravy)

🛒 Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 2 large chicken breasts (halved to make 4 thin pieces)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Oil for frying

For the gravy:

  • 2 tbsp oil or drippings
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & black pepper (lots of pepper for classic taste)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the chicken

  • Pound chicken to even thickness
  • Soak in buttermilk for at least 20–30 minutes (makes it tender)

2. Coat the chicken

  • Mix flour + spices
  • Dip chicken in flour → back into buttermilk → again in flour (for extra crispiness)

3. Fry

  • Heat oil in a pan (medium heat)
  • Fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through
  • Remove and set on paper towels

4. Make the gravy

  • In the same pan, add flour to the oil/drippings
  • Cook for 1–2 minutes
  • Slowly whisk in milk
  • Add salt and plenty of black pepper
  • Cook until thick and creamy

🍽️ Serve

  • Place crispy chicken on a plate
  • Pour warm gravy over the top
