🍗 Chicken and Dumplings (Warm, Comfort Classic)

This dish is like a cozy hug—tender chicken in a creamy broth with soft, fluffy dumplings on top. Super filling and perfect for a hearty meal.


đź§ľ Ingredients

For the chicken stew:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken (shredded)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 celery stalks (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper

For dumplings:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the stew

  • Melt butter in a pot, sautĂ© onions, carrots, and celery until soft
  • Stir in flour and cook 1 minute
  • Slowly add broth and milk, stirring until smooth
  • Add shredded chicken, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
  • Let simmer for 10–15 minutes

2. Prepare dumplings

  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt
  • Stir in milk and melted butter to form a soft dough

3. Cook dumplings

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough on top of the simmering stew
  • Cover with a lid and cook on low for 15 minutes (don’t lift the lid!)

🍽️ Final Result

  • Creamy, thick chicken stew
  • Soft, fluffy dumplings cooked right on top

  • Use rotisserie chicken for extra flavor
  • Don’t overmix dumpling dough (keeps them soft)
