CARAMEL FROSTING

Here’s a simple, reliable caramel frosting recipe you can use for cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.


🍯 Caramel Frosting (Easy Homemade)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup milk (or cream for richer flavor)
  • 2 to 2½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (optional, but balances sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the base
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Add brown sugar and stir until fully dissolved.
  2. Create caramel base
    • Add milk and bring to a gentle boil.
    • Stir continuously for about 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Cool slightly
    • Let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes so it thickens a bit (important so it doesn’t melt the sugar later).
  4. Beat into frosting
    • Pour into a bowl and add powdered sugar gradually.
    • Beat until smooth and fluffy.
    • Add vanilla and a pinch of salt.
  5. Adjust texture
    • Too thick → add a tiny bit of milk
    • Too thin → add more powdered sugar

Tips:

  • Use cream instead of milk for a richer, bakery-style frosting
  • Work quickly once it thickens—it sets as it cools
  • Perfect for chocolate, banana, or vanilla cakes
