Cabbage and noodles 🥬🍜
Cabbage and noodles is a simple, comforting dish made with sautéed cabbage, butter, onions, and egg noodles. It’s popular in many Central and Eastern European kitchens and is sometimes called haluski-style noodles.
Ingredients
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 3 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 tbsp butter
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: bacon or smoked sausage
Instructions
1. Cook noodles
- Boil egg noodles according to package instructions.
- Drain and set aside.
2. Cook cabbage
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook until soft.
- Add cabbage and cook 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally until tender and slightly golden.
3. Combine
- Add cooked noodles to the skillet.
- Toss everything together and season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve
- Serve warm as a main dish or side.

- Add crispy bacon for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle paprika or garlic powder for a richer taste.
- A little Parmesan cheese can add a nice savory touch.
