🍝 Lasagna – Classic Layered Comfort Food

Lasagna is a baked Italian casserole made with layers of pasta, meat or veggies, rich tomato sauce, and gooey cheese. It’s hearty, cheesy, and perfect for feeding a crowd—or just treating yourself!


🧾 Ingredients (Classic Meat Lasagna – Serves 4–6)

For the meat sauce:

  • 500g ground beef (or a mix of beef & pork)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the cheese mixture:

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan

Other:

  • 9–12 lasagna noodles (cooked or no-boil)
  • Optional: sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the meat sauce

  • Sauté onion and garlic until soft
  • Add ground meat, cook until browned
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper
  • Simmer 10–15 min

2. Prepare cheese mixture

  • Mix ricotta, egg, and half of the mozzarella

3. Assemble lasagna

  • Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish
  • Add a layer of noodles
  • Spread some cheese mixture
  • Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and remaining mozzarella

4. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
  • Cover with foil, bake 25–30 min
  • Remove foil, bake 10–15 min until cheese is golden

5. Rest

  • Let sit 10 min before slicing for cleaner pieces

🔥 Tips

  • Use no-boil noodles for convenience
  • Add fresh basil or a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese for extra flavor
  • For a richer lasagna, mix a little cream or bechamel with the ricotta

  • Garlic bread or crusty bread
  • Simple salad
  • Steamed or roasted vegetables
