🐖 Slow Cooker Pork Shoulder Roast (Fall-Apart Tender!)

Pork shoulder is perfect for slow cooking—it turns super juicy, flavorful, and shred-ready.


🧾 Ingredients

  • 1.5–2.5 kg pork shoulder (also called pork butt)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced or powder)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1–2 tsp salt
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup broth (chicken or beef)
  • Optional: 2–3 potatoes & carrots

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Season the meat
    Rub pork with oil, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Layer the slow cooker
    Put onions (and veggies if using) on the bottom, then place pork on top.
  3. Add liquid
    Pour broth around the meat (not directly on top to keep seasoning intact).
  4. Cook low & slow
    • LOW: 8–10 hours
    • HIGH: 5–6 hours
  5. Shred or slice
    Once tender, shred with forks or slice. Spoon juices over the top.

🔥 Flavor Variations

  • BBQ Pulled Pork: Add your favorite BBQ sauce near the end
  • Garlic Herb: Add rosemary, thyme, and extra garlic
  • Spicy: Add chili flakes or chopped chilies
  • Sweet & Savory: Add a little brown sugar + soy sauce

🍽️ Serve With

  • Sandwich buns (pulled pork sandwiches)
  • Rice or mashed potatoes
  • Flatbread or naan (great for a desi twist)

💡 Tips

  • Fat = flavor! Don’t trim too much before cooking
  • Sear the pork before slow cooking for deeper flavor (optional)
