Posted on March 14, 2026 by Admin

Shepherd’s Pie is a comforting baked dish made with seasoned meat, vegetables, and topped with creamy mashed potatoes. 🥔🥧 Traditionally it uses lamb, but many versions use ground beef (often called cottage pie).

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp thyme or Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2–3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the Meat

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat and onion until browned.
  • Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
  • Stir in tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning, and vegetables.
  • Simmer 5–10 minutes until slightly thickened.

2. Assemble

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  • Spoon mashed potatoes over the top and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle cheese on top if using.
