Cabbage and noodles is a simple, comforting dish made with sautĆ©ed cabbage, butter, onions, and egg noodles. It’s popular in many Central and Eastern European kitchens and is sometimes called haluski-style noodles.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 3 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: bacon or smoked sausage

Instructions

1. Cook noodles

  • Boil egg noodles according to package instructions.
  • Drain and set aside.

2. Cook cabbage

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onion and cook until soft.
  • Add cabbage and cook 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally until tender and slightly golden.

3. Combine

  • Add cooked noodles to the skillet.
  • Toss everything together and season with salt and pepper.

4. Serve

  • Serve warm as a main dish or side.

Tips

  • Add crispy bacon for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle paprika or garlic powder for a richer taste.
  • A little Parmesan cheese can add a nice savory touch.
