Apple fritters

Apple fritters are sweet, fried pastries made with chopped apples mixed into a spiced dough, then fried until golden and often drizzled with glaze or dusted with sugar. They’re a classic breakfast or dessert treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled, chopped apples
  • Oil for frying

Optional Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Make the batter

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs with milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  • Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in chopped apples.

2. Fry the fritters

  • Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.

3. Glaze (optional)

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Drizzle over warm fritters.

Tips

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance with the sweetness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan; fry in batches for even cooking.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
