Apple Slab Pie

Ingredients

For the crust

• 2½ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 cup cold butter, cubed
• 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the filling

• 8–10 apples, peeled and sliced
• ¾ cup sugar
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• ¼ tsp nutmeg
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp vanilla

For the top

• 1 egg (for egg wash)
• 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

1. Make the dough
   Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water a little at a time until dough forms. Divide into two portions and chill for 30 minutes.
2. Prepare the filling
   In a large bowl mix apples, sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
3. Roll the crust
   Roll one dough portion into a large rectangle and place in a 10×15-inch sheet pan.
4. Add filling
   Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
5. Top crust
   Roll the second dough piece and place over the apples. Seal edges and cut small vents.
6. Brush & sprinkle
   Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sugar on top.
7. Bake
   Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Optional Add-Ons

• Drizzle with Caramel sauce
• Serve with Vanilla ice cream 🍨
