🧀 Macaroni Casserole (Creamy, Cheesy & Baked)
Macaroni casserole is a comforting oven-baked meal that’s creamy inside and slightly crispy on top.
🧂 Ingredients
- 2 cups macaroni pasta
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1–1.5 cups grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 cup cooked chicken or vegetables (optional)
🔥 Instructions
1. Cook pasta
- Boil macaroni in salted water until just tender (al dente)
- Drain and set aside
2. Make white sauce
- Melt butter in a pan
- Add flour and stir 1–2 minutes (don’t brown it)
- Slowly add milk, whisking to avoid lumps
- Cook until slightly thick
- Add salt, pepper, garlic powder
3. Add cheese
- Mix in half the cheese until melted and creamy
4. Combine
- Mix pasta (and chicken/veg if using) into the sauce
5. Bake
- Pour into baking dish
- Top with remaining cheese
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes
- Broil last 2–3 minutes for golden top
