For the Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ¾ cup milk or buttermilk

🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Sausage

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned.
  • Break it into small crumbles while cooking.

2️⃣ Make the Gravy

  • Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir well.
  • Cook 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  • Gradually add milk while stirring constantly.
  • Simmer until the gravy thickens (5–7 minutes).
  • Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

3️⃣ Make the Biscuits

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Stir in milk until dough forms.
  • Roll out and cut into biscuit shapes.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes until golden.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Split warm biscuits in half and spoon sausage gravy over the top.

  • Black pepper is key to classic sausage gravy flavor.
  • If gravy becomes too thick, add a little more milk.
