🥘 Ingredients (Serves 4):

For the steaks:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper

For the mushroom gravy:

  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

🔥 Instructions:

  1. Make the patties
    • In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
    • Shape into 4 oval patties.
  2. Cook the patties
    • In a skillet over medium heat, brown patties on both sides (don’t fully cook through). Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the gravy
    • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until soft.
    • Stir in flour and cook 1–2 minutes.
    • Slowly add beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce.
    • Simmer until thickened.
  4. Combine and finish
    • Return patties to the skillet and simmer in gravy 10–15 minutes until fully cooked.
  5. Serve
    • Over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

  • For extra flavor, sear patties in a mix of butter and oil.
  • Add a splash of cream to the gravy for richness.
  • Mushrooms can be white, cremini, or baby bella—all work well.
