Posted on March 10, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Salisbury Steak recipe—juicy beef patties in a rich brown gravy, perfect with mashed potatoes or rice. 🥩🍽️

🥩 Salisbury Steak

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Patties

  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Form into 4 oval-shaped patties.

2️⃣ Brown the Patties

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Brown patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

3️⃣ Make the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, melt butter.
  • Whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Season with onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer until thickened (about 5 minutes).

4️⃣ Combine & Simmer

  • Return patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over them.
  • Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes until patties are cooked through.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

💡 Tips

  • Use half beef, half pork for juicier patties.
  • Add mushrooms to the gravy for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge and can be reheated gently.

If you want, I can also give a slow cooker Salisbury steak version that makes the patties extra tender and the gravy richer—perfect for hands-off cooking. Do you want me to do that?
