Marble cake

Here’s a classic Marble Cake 🍰 recipe—soft, moist, and beautifully swirled with chocolate and vanilla:


Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

For the Chocolate Swirl:

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat oven to 175 °C (350 °F).
    • Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or round cake pan.
  2. Prepare the Vanilla Batter
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
    • Gradually mix in the flour mixture and milk until smooth.
  3. Prepare the Chocolate Batter
    • Mix cocoa powder, sugar, and milk to make a smooth chocolate mixture.
    • Take about 1/3 of the vanilla batter and mix it with the chocolate mixture.
  4. Create the Marble Effect
    • Pour half of the vanilla batter into the pan.
    • Spoon chocolate batter on top, then add the remaining vanilla batter.
    • Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl for a marble pattern.
  5. Bake
    • Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve
    • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
    • Slice and enjoy plain, or dust with powdered sugar.

✅ Tips:

  • Don’t over-swirl; gentle folding gives a pretty marble pattern.
  • Add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the chocolate batter for richer flavor.
  • This recipe can also be made as cupcakes—bake 20–25 minutes for smaller portions.
