KFC Biscuits

KFC-Style Biscuits

Servings: 8–10 biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup cold butter (cut into small cubes)
  • ¾ cup cold buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Heat oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter
    • Add the cold butter cubes and mix with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. Add buttermilk
    • Pour in buttermilk and mix gently until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
  5. Shape biscuits
    • Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface.
    • Pat to about ¾-inch thickness and cut into biscuit rounds.
  6. Bake
    • Place biscuits on the baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Butter finish
    • Brush warm biscuits with melted butter.

  • Don’t overwork the dough or the biscuits can become dense.
