🥖 Homemade Meatball Subs

Meatball subs are a delicious, hearty sandwich—juicy meatballs, rich marinara, and melty cheese all in a soft roll. Perfect for lunch or dinner!


🧾 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper

For the Subs:

  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1½ cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • Optional: fresh basil or parsley for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the meatballs

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Form into 1½–2 inch meatballs.

2️⃣ Cook the meatballs

  • Heat a skillet with a little oil and brown meatballs on all sides.
  • Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and simmer 15–20 minutes until cooked through.

3️⃣ Assemble the subs

  • Slice rolls lengthwise (don’t cut all the way through).
  • Spoon meatballs and sauce into each roll.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella.

4️⃣ Melt the cheese

  • Broil in the oven for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Garnish with parsley or basil if desired.
  • Serve hot with chips or a side salad.
