Hamburger Stew

Here’s a hearty Hamburger Stew 🥩🥕 recipe—a comforting, one-pot meal perfect for chilly days:


Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3–4 medium potatoes (peeled and diced)
  • 3 carrots (sliced)
  • 2–3 stalks celery (chopped, optional)
  • 1 can (400 g) diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika or Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • Optional: 1 cup frozen peas or corn

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef
    • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
    • Add onions and garlic; sauté until soft.
  2. Add Vegetables and Liquid
    • Stir in potatoes, carrots, and celery.
    • Add diced tomatoes and beef broth. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika or Italian seasoning.
  3. Simmer
    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
    • Cover and simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender.
  4. Add Optional Ingredients
    • Add frozen peas or corn in the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  5. Serve
    • Serve hot with crusty bread or over rice.

✅ Tips:

  • For a thicker stew, mash some of the potatoes while cooking or stir in 1–2 tbsp flour or cornstarch mixed with water.
  • You can add worcestershire sauce or tomato paste for extra depth of flavor.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day as the flavors meld.
