Crispy fried mushrooms

Posted on March 22, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a tasty way to make crispy fried mushrooms—perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish! 🍄✨

🌟 Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) fresh mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk)
  • 1–2 cups breadcrumbs or panko for extra crunch
  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)

🥄 Instructions

  1. Prep mushrooms
Pat mushrooms dry with paper towels. This helps them crisp up better.
  2. Set up dredging station
    • Bowl 1: Flour + salt + pepper + garlic powder
    • Bowl 2: Buttermilk
    • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs/panko
  3. Coat mushrooms
Dip each mushroom in flour, then buttermilk, then breadcrumbs. Make sure they’re evenly coated.
  4. Heat oil
Heat about 1–2 inches of oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry mushrooms
Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes or until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  6. Drain & serve
Place fried mushrooms on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve hot with ranch, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.

✨ Tips

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs or mix with cornmeal.
  • Add a little Parmesan to the breadcrumb mix for cheesy flavor.
  • Oven-baked version: Bake coated mushrooms at 425°F (220°C) for 15–20 minutes for a lighter option.

If you want, I can give you a super quick air fryer version that’s crispy in under 15 minutes. Do you want me to do that?
