Cornbread

Posted on March 10, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, moist Cornbread recipe—slightly sweet, tender, and perfect as a side for soups, chili, or fried chicken. 🌽🍞

🌽 Cornbread

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup melted butter or vegetable oil

🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or a 9-inch cast iron skillet.

2️⃣ Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3️⃣ Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter (or oil).

4️⃣ Combine
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5️⃣ Bake
Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake 20–25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6️⃣ Cool & Serve
Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with butter, honey, or alongside your meal.

💡 Tips

  • For extra flavor, add ½ cup corn kernels or shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Use buttermilk instead of milk for a tangy, tender crumb.
  • Cast iron skillet gives a crisp golden crust.
