Cinnamon roll

Here’s a classic Cinnamon Roll 🍥 recipe—soft, fluffy rolls with a sweet cinnamon filling and creamy icing.


Ingredients (Makes 10–12 rolls)

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Cinnamon Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup softened butter

Cream Cheese Icing (Optional)

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, flour, and salt.
  3. Knead for 6–8 minutes until the dough is smooth.

2. Let the Dough Rise

  • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.

3. Make the Filling

  • Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.

4. Roll the Dough

  1. Roll dough into a 12 × 9 inch rectangle.
  2. Spread softened butter on the dough.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over the butter.

5. Shape the Rolls

  • Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  • Cut into 10–12 slices and place in a greased baking dish.

6. Second Rise

  • Cover and let rise 30 minutes.

7. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.

8. Add Icing

  • Mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  • Spread over warm cinnamon rolls.

  • Add raisins or chopped nuts for extra texture.
  • Pour 2–3 tbsp warm cream over the rolls before baking to make them extra soft.
  • Best served warm with the icing slightly melted.
