American goulash

🍲 **American goulash

American goulash is a hearty, comforting one-pot meal featuring ground beef, elbow macaroni, tomatoes, and a blend of seasonings. It’s an easy, family-friendly dinner that’s quick to make and perfect for weeknights.

Ingredients (6–8 servings)

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1–2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook beef
    • In a large skillet or pot, brown ground beef over medium heat.
    • Drain excess fat. Add onion and garlic, sautĂ© until softened.
  2. Add liquids & seasonings
    • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
    • Bring to a simmer.
  3. Cook pasta
    • Add uncooked elbow macaroni. Cover and simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce thickened.
  4. Serve
    • Optional: sprinkle with shredded cheese and parsley before serving. Serve hot.

🍴 Tips & Variations

  • Cheesy version: Stir in cheese during the last few minutes of cooking for a creamy finish.
  • Veggie boost: Add diced bell peppers, corn, or mushrooms.
  • Spicy twist: Add crushed red pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Make-ahead: Goulash reheats well and often tastes even better the next day.

I can also make a “classic diner-style American goulash” recipe that’s extra flavorful, perfectly saucy, and super cheesy—like the kind served in family restaurants.

Do you want me to do that?
