Posted on March 31, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple, flavorful recipe for Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic 🥓🥬🧄—a classic comfort side dish!

🥬 Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 small head green cabbage (chopped)
  • 4–5 slices bacon (chopped)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Cook the bacon

  • In a large skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy.
  • Remove bacon and leave the rendered fat in the pan.

2. Sauté onion and garlic

  • Add sliced onion to the bacon fat, cook 3–4 minutes until soft.
  • Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.

3. Cook the cabbage

  • Add chopped cabbage to the skillet.
  • Stir well to coat with bacon fat, onion, and garlic.
  • Cook 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.

4. Add bacon & season

  • Stir the cooked bacon back in.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.

5. Serve warm

  • Perfect as a side with pork, chicken, or even eggs for breakfast.

🌟 Tips

  • For extra flavor, drizzle a little apple cider vinegar over the cabbage before serving.
  • Use savoy cabbage for a milder, sweeter taste.
  • Don’t overcook—the cabbage should still have a little bite, not be mushy.

If you want, I can also make a quick 15-minute one-pan version that’s perfect for busy weeknights 😋
