🍗 Slow Cooker Rotisserie-Style Chicken

You can get juicy, flavorful chicken in your slow cooker that tastes like it came from a rotisserie—without any special equipment.


🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 whole chicken (3–4 lbs / 1.4–1.8 kg)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional for color)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

Optional: sliced onions, garlic cloves, or lemon wedges for extra flavor

1️⃣ Prep the chicken

  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels
  2. Rub olive oil all over
  3. Mix the spices and rub evenly over the chicken, inside and out

2️⃣ Set up the slow cooker

  • Place chicken breast-side up in the slow cooker
  • Pour ½ cup chicken broth or water around (not over) the chicken
  • Optionally, place onion slices, garlic, or lemon inside the cavity

3️⃣ Cook

  • Low: 6–7 hours
  • High: 3–4 hours
  • Chicken is done when internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part of the thigh

4️⃣ Optional crisping

  • For crispy skin, place the cooked chicken under the broiler for 3–5 minutes

💡 Tips

  • Don’t lift the lid too often—the slow cooker loses heat
  • Use the juices left in the pot as a gravy base
  • Shred leftovers for sandwiches, salads, or soups
