Mozzarella sticks

Posted on March 23, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Mozzarella Sticks recipe 🧀—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside:

🥣 Ingredients (makes about 12 sticks):

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese works well)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-seasoned)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (optional)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Coating

  • Place flour in one bowl
  • Beat eggs in a second bowl
  • Mix breadcrumbs with garlic powder and Italian herbs in a third bowl

2. Coat the Cheese

  • Roll each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs
  • For extra crunch, repeat egg + breadcrumb step for a double coating
  • Freeze coated sticks for at least 30 minutes before frying to prevent melting too quickly

3. Fry

  • Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 180°C (350°F)
  • Fry mozzarella sticks 1–2 minutes until golden brown
  • Remove and drain on paper towels

4. Serve

  • Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce

💡 Tips:

  • Baking alternative: Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 10–12 minutes for a lower-fat version
  • Freezing before cooking is key—prevents cheese from oozing out
  • Try adding a sprinkle of Parmesan to the breadcrumbs for extra flavor

If you want, I can give you a super quick air fryer version that’s ready in 10 minutes and perfectly crispy.

Do you want me to do that?
