Crockpot beef roast

Here’s a classic Crockpot Beef Roast recipe—super tender, flavorful, and perfect for an easy family dinner.


🥩 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 3–4 lbs (1.4–1.8 kg) beef chuck roast
  • 4 medium potatoes, cut into chunks
  • 4 carrots, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1–2 tbsp flour or cornstarch (for thickening, optional)

🥄 Instructions

  1. Prep Roast:
    Season the beef roast with salt, pepper, and optional dried herbs. For extra flavor, you can sear the roast in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side before placing in the crockpot.
  2. Layer Vegetables:
    Place potatoes, carrots, and onion in the bottom of the crockpot. Add minced garlic.
  3. Add Roast & Liquid:
    Place the roast on top of the vegetables. Pour beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the top.
  4. Cook:
    Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 5–6 hours, until the roast is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  5. Optional Gravy:
    Remove the roast and vegetables. Mix 1–2 tbsp flour or cornstarch with a little cold water, stir into the cooking liquid, and cook on high for 5–10 minutes until thickened.
  6. Serve:
    Slice or shred the roast and serve with vegetables and gravy.

💡 Tips:

  • Add parsnips, turnips, or celery for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers make amazing sandwiches or beef hash.
  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of red wine or balsamic vinegar to the cooking liquid.
