🍄 Chicken Marsala
Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian-American dish featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a rich Marsala wine and mushroom sauce. It’s elegant but surprisingly easy to make!
🧾 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)
- 2–4 chicken breasts (pounded thin)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 8 oz mushrooms (sliced, cremini or button)
- ¾ cup Marsala wine (sweet or dry)
- ¾ cup chicken broth
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the chicken
- Pound chicken to ½-inch thickness.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Dredge in flour and shake off excess.
2️⃣ Cook the chicken
- Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove chicken and set aside.
3️⃣ Cook the mushrooms
- In the same skillet, add remaining butter.
- Sauté mushrooms until soft and browned.
4️⃣ Make the sauce
- Pour in Marsala wine and scrape up browned bits from the pan.
- Add chicken broth and simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
5️⃣ Return chicken
- Add chicken back to the skillet and simmer 3–5 minutes, spooning sauce over it.
6️⃣ Serve
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
🍽️ Tips
- Use dry Marsala wine for less sweetness.
- Make sure the skillet is hot when searing chicken to get a golden crust.
- For extra richness, stir in a teaspoon of cream at the end.
