🍽️ Country Fried Steak
Country Fried Steak is a classic Southern-style dish made with tenderized beef steak that’s breaded, fried until crispy, and served with creamy gravy.
🧾 Ingredients
- 4 cube steaks (tenderized beef steaks)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- Oil for frying
For the Gravy
- 2 tbsp pan drippings (from frying)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the coating
- In one bowl mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In another bowl whisk eggs and milk.
2️⃣ Bread the steaks
- Dip each cube steak in the flour mixture.
- Then dip in the egg mixture.
- Coat again in flour for a crispy crust.
3️⃣ Fry the steak
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and place on paper towels.
4️⃣ Make the gravy
- Leave about 2 tbsp of drippings in the pan.
- Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly add milk while whisking.
- Simmer until thick, then season with salt and pepper.
5️⃣ Serve
- Place fried steak on a plate and pour the creamy gravy over the top.
