Strudel

Strudel is a traditional layered pastry made with very thin dough wrapped around a sweet or savory filling and baked until golden and flaky. It is especially famous in Austrian and Central European cuisine.

Simple Apple Strudel Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry or strudel dough
  • 3 apples, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup raisins (optional)
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Basic Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare filling – mix apples, sugar, cinnamon, and raisins.
  3. Prepare pastry – place dough on a baking sheet and sprinkle breadcrumbs.
  4. Add filling down the center and roll the pastry around it.
  5. Brush with butter and bake 30–35 minutes until golden.

Serving Ideas

  • Dust with powdered sugar
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
